Enrico Acker, a Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University graduate, graduated with his MCom degree on Tuesday, 12 April 2016.

Enrico, together with his supervisor, Prof Miemie Struwig, researched professional rugby players' attitudes and habits towards personal financial management. He explained that while playing professional rugby, players can earn big salaries and when they retire from the sport they are already 7 - 10 years behind in the workforce. These players experience a massive drop in salary.

Acker says that he thinks professional players' apathy towards financial planning is not so much to do with their sporting profession, but their age, as people only start to think seriously about financial planning from the age of 26.

Enrico now works as a financial planner in Port Elizabeth and has since retired from playing professional rugby.
